Make the most of 2012

It is that time of the year when everybody is suffering from post-Christmas depression (it's all over :'( waaaaaaa). People are going sales crazy, you think you might have eaten a little too much, it's cold, it's dark, you've worn all your new clothes and played with all your new gadgets BUT there is no need to fear, party season is only half way through; we still have time to celebrate the new year in style!

Personally I have a very spiritual outlook when it comes to New Year rather than an urge to go out and spend my money in ridiculously overpriced bars. I prefer to spend time with my family and think about the amazing things we have planned for the year ahead.

2012 is going to be time for reinvention, exploration and change.

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.

- Buddha

With New Year's resolutions people tend to set their goals really high, hit a hurdle, fail miserably and then give up (unless you have ridiculously high willpower, which if you do, I applaud you as I have none!). To save myself from ever feeling disappointed I firstly think of multiple resolutions to set as long term goals that I can pick up throughout the year; this way, January 1st doesn't seem to depressing. Theeeeeeeen I double check that they only require minimal amounts of effort, I lead a pretty busy life and small changes still count!

Here is my list of resolutions that I thought were quite suited to me at the moment :)

Think before I speak:
Sometimes I say things that are a little harsh, many a tiff could be prevented if I only pause before I opened le massive bouche.

Don't dye my hair:
I am an over-bleaching victim, then an extreme colourist which resulted in my hair having to be chopped off really short :(  luckily I am back on track to having lovely long flowing hair.

Eat more fruit:
I like fruit. Let me eat more of it.

Learn that it's okay to say no:
Not many people know this but I actually love helping people. If you ask me to do a favour, I will probably say yes. Even if I don't want to.

Chill out:
I have self-diagnosed OCD... my room is immaculate, I like to clean and everything is organised. Sometimes I just need to give myself a break and stop worrying about stuff.

But be a hard worker when it is needed:
I am aiming for firsts this year!

Decide on a tattoo, stick it on my wall & if it is still there in 6 months.. MAN UP AND GET IT:
What it says on the tin. Now did I want a unicorn or a flaming skull?? decisions decisions.

On a serious note.. lotus flower is the current idea!

Spend less time on facebook & pick up a hobby:
I waste my life on facebook; I can spend hours just scrolling up and down and up and down. I could probably knit a scarf in that time, or learn to lick my elbow or actually use that hula hoop I bought.

Buy more elephant and turtle stuff:
Heck! this is one every year :)

Smile at EVERYONE.. share some love:
A smile doesn't hurt anyone :) pass it on!

& to share some love... here are some amazing tumblrs that I found today that have some really cute pictures that make me wish Summer was here already! Most the images used in this post are from these sites so check them out!

Peace out my lovely readers!

You're not nineteen forever...

December is DEFINITELY one of my favourite months because it is finally time for Christmas (even though the songs have been playing in the shops since October!?!) and and and.. it's my month of birth :) winter baby, Sagittarius & 'the old git' out of my housemates

First of all I'd like to share some of the faaaaaabulous that my lovely housemates, boyfriend and family bought for me for Secret Santa and my birthday as some of them were some amazing finds :) Sorry I couldn't include them all guys <3

1. Knitted Cocoon cardigan from Topshop

This one was a super sneaky gift :) James had told me that he had blown his student loan and he couldn't afford presents until January so we made a deal that he would buy me the supersize gingerbread man from Greggs. However.. Leah and Sam were so sneaky and helped James find something lovely that he could buy me and surprise me with when he came up to York to see me :) Thanks guys!

2. Lil Lush Pud and Sweetie Pie shower jelly from Lush

3. Gorgeous by Gok from Boots

4. Tea for one Teapot available at selected Morrisons stores

5. Yankee Candle Christmas Cookie tea lights
6. Pineapple Charm from Pandora
7. The new amazing fabulous Kindle :) available from Amazon

I decided to do something a little different for my birthday this year rather than the standard night out; I thought that money would be much better spent on an outing to the Ice Factor in York. I hadn't been ice skating in years so I was VERY excited to wrap up warm and go skate and spin elegantly act like Bambi for an hour :) Luckily my friends can ice skate so I had someone to drag me and James around for the entire session heehee!

My 20th has definitely topped my 19th birthday as that consisted of throwing up Cranberry juice out my window and eating Pizza Hut takeaway in my pyjamas hahaha. I just have to start thinking of ideas for my 21st now, only a year to go!

I'd like to end with a dedication to Leah who so kindly sang this song to me a LOT, just to remind me that I am now old and will never be a teenager again! I am plotting my revenge ready for your birthday ;)

You know it's Christmas when....

Your house mates get into the holiday spirit...

Leah has been wearing her Santa onsie since the beginning of November! She came up to visit me in my room  to share a lot of joy and ho ho ho -ing. It was hilarious opening our presents on Christmas morning with a ginger Santa present :P

I have also been getting in the Christmas spirit by playing the Original Source advent calendar on facebook, where the top 50 people each day win a bottle of Original Source body wash. You can play it here..https://www.facebook.com/OriginalSource.GB

I have also been laughing my socks off at the Body Shop JOY VISION that lets you create pictures that look a little bit like this...

The Christmas Tree Goes up...

In my house we had had our Christmas decorations up for weeks now as we have to have an early Christmas day/dinner before we all go home for the holidays. Our Christmas day was actually yesterday so I can tell you all about it and share the embarrassing piccies later!

Here is our beautiful tree with our poundland decorations  :)

Now, it's impossible to be a trainee teacher and not have to put up a tree other than your own, so here is a picture of my class's effort on placement. The snowman is just a snippet of my artistic flair! ;)

The coca cola truck comes to town... (and you use this as an excuse to buy a starbucks)

AMAZING YES?? This was the best picture of the night as it was ridiculously busy and the queue for a professional pictures was a gazillion miles long! However, I have never seen York look so pretty with all the christmas lights, the winter fair and coca cola truck.

You get a polar bear in the post... and then turn said polar bear into your boyfriend...

So last weekend when I was home I had a little red package waiting for me and inside was my birds eye bear! I have decided to keep the name Clarence, but he guards my mug tree rather than my fish fingers!

Then, on our Uni Christmas day I transformed Clarence into James my boyfriend so that he didn't miss out on the festive goodness. :)

You have a mini Christmas day at Uni and hope that at least one of you can cook a turkey...

Jade and Sam are the resident chefs as they seem to know a lot more about cooking than me and Leah as we are the useless ones! As you can see from the picture of my DELICIOUS Christmas dinner, they did an amazing job. The pretty table decorations are all thanks to Jade as well, aren't they just loooooverly!?!
All in all the dinner and the decorations were a lot better than Uni Christmas take 1 which took place in the grubby halls where we lived last year! Here is a picture from last year that I still find HILARIOUS....

Well, the time has come for the embarrassing pictures I promised! I'd like to note that there was a lot of mulled wine and vodka jelly prior to some of the photos ha ha ha... enjoy!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL!!!!!!!!
